The state budget that the Arizona Legislature passed on May 5th included a provision to defund Planned Parenthood. The potential cut to Planned Parenthood’s budget would be around $2 million for facilities in Arizona.
Cathi Herrod, President for the Center for Arizona Policy, stated that “Planned Parenthood would be eligible [for funding] if it ceased performing abortions. But Planned Parenthood is not the only game in town, and taxpayers should not be forced to pay for abortions – even indirectly through paying other expenses at abortion clinics.”
The budget is now awaiting Gov. Doug Ducey’s signature.
