The Montana Senate passed a bill that would outlaw abortions after 24 weeks. The bill also requires that a doctor try to deliver and save the baby after 6 months. Senator Albert Olszewski states that the bill is “inspired by a real situation, a situation where a late-term pregnancy put a woman in a life-threatening condition and had to deal with this horrible decision of being told she had to terminate this pregnancy.” It is likely the governor will veto, as he is pro-abortion, and even if it passes Planned Parenthood (not surprisingly) will challenge the bill.
Critics of the bill call it the most extreme anti-abortion measure in the United States. No more extreme, of course, than ending the life of an unborn, innocent child.
