US Supreme Court sends school bathroom case involving transgendered student back to the lower court

OK, so, for non-legal folks what in the world does this mean? I am not a lawyer, but I will do my best.

The case was at the Supreme Court because of the Obama administration’s order that transgendered students should be able to use the bathroom of their perceived gender, and not their biological gender. The Trump administration, however, pulled that order. As such, the Supreme Court sent the case back to the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals in order to determine if actual discrimination had occurred. The Court “will consider whether Title IX’s prohibition of discrimination on the basis of sex extends to gender identity.”

This is an important case, and cultural question. To deconstruct and redefine gender will have severe consequences for society.
